The Roger and Cindy Excellence in Plant Breeding Lecture Series honors Dr. H. Roger Boerma, emeritus distinguished research professor and executive director of Georgia Seed Development, and his wife, Cindy. Dr. Boerma has made groundbreaking contributions to plant breeding through the development of new soybean cultivars and has played a pivotal role in establishing organizations dedicated to training future generations of plant breeders.

The CAES Institute of Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Genomics will host the fifth annual lecture in this series, featuring Dr. David Douches, Director of the Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Biotechnology Graduate Program at Michigan State University. His presentation, titled “Diploid Potato Breeding: Progress and Challenges,” will explore advancements and ongoing obstacles in this critical area of research.
