Beef cattle short course Aug. 25 in south Georgia

The 2005 Southeast Georgia Beef Cattle Short Course will be Aug.
25 at the Canoochee Forage Bull Development Center between
Claxton and Glennville, Ga.

The course will begin outside with a live animal evaluation and
ultrasound demonstrations. University of Georgia faculty members
will also address body condition scoring in the field and
adjusting cattle rations.

Later indoor sessions will focus NAIS (the National Animal
Identification System) and record-keeping, forages, cattle
marketing and farm programs. Associate State Veterinarian Dr.
Carter Black will provide an update on agrosecurity and
agroterrorism issues and concerns.

Lunch will be provided, and a $5 fee covers all other costs.
Preregister by Aug. 18 to enable sponsors to provide enough lunch
for everybody. The Canoochee Center is 8 miles south of Claxton
and 7 miles north of Glennville on the east side of U.S. Highway
301.
