Citation Examples (in APA Style)

Our expert resources are edited following APA Style manual guidelines established by the American Psychological Association. When using APA style, please refer to the recommended formats for citing all or part of our expert resources:

For a List of References or Works Cited

Joseph, S. V., & Bauske, E. M. (2025). Management of turfgrass insect pests and pollinator protection (Publication No. C 1127). University of Georgia Cooperative Extension. https://fieldreport.caes.uga.edu/publications/C1127/

Note that the title of the publication is in italics and sentence case, and the publication’s letter and number identifier is included after the title. The full name of our organization is “University of Georgia Cooperative Extension.”

Links to any publications that are live on our website can be found by changing the letter-number combination (with no space between) after /publications/ in the example above.

These web links are considered “permalinks” to our content and will forward to new URLs as our website evolves and changes. We recommend against linking to PDFs on our website, because when these files are replaced (or removed), the links to older versions of the file break and are not redirected.

Parenthetical Citations

APA Style does not use footnotes, but the information from your references or works cited list can be used to properly complete any footnotes you require. APA Style uses parenthetical citations in manuscript text.

The parenthetical citation format for the example above would be:

(Joseph & Bauske, 2025)

Note that an ampersand (&) is used here just as it is in the reference listing.

How to Cite a Figure (Photo, Ilustration, or Graph)

Formatting Citations Using Other Style Guides

If you follow MLA, Chicago, or another style guide, the APA version should contain all of the information that you need to complete the citation for other style guides. Please let the editor know if they can assist you with any missing or unclear information for your citations.
