Turfgrass Research Field Day visitors will engage with the Turfgrass Entomology Lab at Station 2 on the morning guided research tour. At this interactive station, experts from Shimat Joseph’s lab will deliver crucial updates on identifying major turfgrass pests and leveraging beneficial insects for natural control.
This coordinated effort is led by a talented team of graduate students, including Rajesh Vavilapalli, Anne Stalvey, Kavitha Patchipala, Navdeep Kaur, and Nived Muralidharan.
Vistors will learn about specific field projects that are changing how the industry approaches conservation. Graduate student Anne Stalvey will present key insights from her comprehensive pollinator survey on golf courses, alongside updates from her predator activity project. By visiting this station, turf professionals will gain actionable, science-backed strategies to successfully balance aggressive pest control with vital pollinator protection.
